Yellow and Pink Mod Wedding

Hello Superfine People! Today's cake was done for a very mod couple of graphic designers that wanted bright colors and bold design on something that still looked like a wedding cake. To the left is the result.

Occasionally couples request dessert bar treats to go along with their cake, and I happily oblige. :) For this one, I made pink meringue kisses filled with lemon cream cheese. Fun to make, they complimented the bold cake nicely without visually overwhelming it.

The meringues are easily made with sugar and egg whites, then piped out on sheets and baked for hours at low heat. The more savory, heavy nature of cream cheese icing was a great balance to the air-light texture of the meltaway meringues. Sort of the same flavor effect as sea salt caramels. I loved them and would do them again in a heartbeat.

In other news, an official web site is in the works! It's mostly finished with design and writing, and now just needs more pictures of goodies like these so I can make the home page look as good as it should. Two more cakes are in the works at the moment, and once I get those done and photographed, I'll have what I need to at least get the site in "launch shape."

See you soon and I'll post more when I have it!
